About This Talk
Picking up from the previous week’s talk on shifting markets, Chris goes deeper into how to handle one. He describes markets as a finicky engine with many moving parts, calls the current housing shift a soft reset, and reminds listeners that they can’t control much around them, but they can control what they do. He asks them to keep making contact with the future, so they reach a destiny rather than some random fate.
Key Ideas
- Learn all you can about the shift, until you can explain it easily to a customer in casual conversation.
- Get curious and observe without labeling, because calling a change bad drains the opportunity out of it.
- Compare notes with peers and related professionals, like loan officers, appraisers and home inspectors.
- Revisit your big goals, strategies and tactics, write the changes down, and check in every couple of weeks.
- Don’t wait for things to go back to how they were or spend time getting ready to get ready; get moving.
“We’re always waiting for things to go back to where they were, and they never do.”
